A SPRING VIGNETTE

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a nice weekend.

Spring is definitely in the air here in Central California.  All of the flowering trees in town and in
the local orchards are in full bloom.  Some plants are also blooming in my garden as well.  I love
this color of lavender, so I brought some inside the house to add a little pop of spring color.

I also recently found this pretty scale over at Tracey's fabulous online shop, French Larkspur.  I've
been looking for a scale like this for a long time, but have never been able to find just the right
one.  I love this one for its wonderful patina, beautiful face and hand, and its black and white color.

Tracey sent this wonderful French letter with the most beautiful script on it along with my order...
so lovely... thank you, Tracey!

I've recently started looking for rental homes.  It's a little depressing, to say the least.  I have found one that's kind of cute, but I need more information on it still.  Hopefully, I'll be able to find out more about it this week... we'll see...

Ughhhh... I dread having to move.

Well, that's it for today, my friends.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

'Til next time...

~ Jo :-)

  10. So wonderful your spring decoration! So you have the same season like in Switzerland! I never know, where, in which country I mean, is which season. So, it is nice, to hear from the other side of the world, like you are, what you have now! Hugs, Barbara

  11. Jo, I love the Spring Vignette-so cute!! I love that Spanish Lavender-really beautiful!! I'm sorry you have to move. I will be moving as of 5/1/12 too. We are in a rental now and we are having a house built. The lease on our rental isn't up until next May (2013)so we want to make sure there is a new renter in here so we don't get stuck paying rent and a mortgage payment starting in October.

  22. What a lovely set of photos. I have a pretty cool scale that I pulled out of the wreckage of Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi coast from a clean up mission trip. This makes me want to retrieve it from the box at my parents' house.

  37. Hope you are feeling better! I left you a comment in January, and have prayed for you. It's so hard to go through these changes, and moving when you didn't want to- is very difficult, but you are so talented, and you will make a sweet new home in another place. Also you have such a strong support base of blogging friends, and that is a blessing and an important resource.
I liked seeing your flowers and I hope you pot up some of that unusual lavender to take with you. I brought some plants with me and it helped me recover when I had to move.
I lost my home 20 years ago when I divorced my husband, and again recently, just last summer, lost my home, but I learned that I can start over and replace things over time.
But you must take care of yourself, nurture yourself with beauty, good food, and love. Surround yourself with positive people and great books. I hope your new job is fun, it's good to be out and around people. I hope some wonderful things happen for you with the arrival of spring! Be Blessed! Linda

  38. Jo, I am so sorry you are having to go through all of this. You are so creative and talented and I know you will make your new home cozy and lovely. Be kind to yourself and give yourself some much needed nurturing. Your new house will become a home because you have your lovely daughters with you and that's what is important. You will all come up with creative ideas and it will be wonderful. The main thing is to take care of yourself. Remember, you are in all of our thoughts and hearts and we are right here for you.
Your photos and vignettes are lovely as always. I am glad you are posting again.
Sending you lots of love. XO

  39. And more thoughts I want to share with you, Jo...

I went through a divorce when I was 28. I had a 2-year-old and 4-year-old, I hadn't worked in 7 years and I was terrified. But HOPE kept me moving forward, and in time I married again, and everything worked out better than ever.

Enter 2000 - both my husband and I lost our software jobs when the .com bubble burst. We sold our home at a loss and moved to our mountain property in a tiny trailer. Years passed. Time and HOPE brought possibilities, and possibilities brought us to where we are today - living in our tiny cottage in the woods.

I think if you decide to open an online shop, you will do great! Your taste is exquisite. We opened online shops and it helped us through our most difficult years.

Everything will work out and you will be happy again. Really.

    More hugs,
    Zuzu

  40. Jo I am delighted to see another post from you. Your work is exquisite - you are such a gifted lady. I understand your sense of trepidation about moving - I too am a settler and find the idea of moving uncomfortable. I have no doubt that you will turn your new accommodation into a beautiful home for you and your girls. You are doing wonderfully! Keep up the great work. God bless you and your girls. Huggles, Shirley xxx

  51. I'm jealous of the scale you have. It looks so vintage yet so pretty in a retro type of way. I have a boring simple scale at my house. I want a vintage one like yours.
